As we progressed southward, the landscape changed. Saigon seems more affluent than Hanoi in the north -- more cars, fewer bicycles, more high-tech industrial parks. Although there are the same throngs of people in the city, it's also possible to escape to the islands of Mekong Delta. Plus there is the Holy See of the Cao Dai religion.
